Classical education is a time-tested and proven approach to the intellectual and moral formation of young people. A classical education seeks for students to be more than just smart; it aspires for them to be wise and seek a lasting good beyond themselves. A classical education shows students that they are part of the great conversation that has animated the West for the past three thousand years. The classical tradition ultimately explores what it means to be a flourishing and happy human being. To this end, elements of a classical education include Socratic discussion, the Great Books, the traditional liberal arts—including math, science, and the fine arts—and cultivation of virtue in all aspects of school culture and curriculum.
The purpose of Great Hearts Academies is to cultivate the minds and hearts of students through the pursuit of Truth, Goodness, and Beauty.
